What is your hometown?
My hometown is Tacoma, Washington.
What made you choose to attend Eastern Washington University?
The small class sizes and affordability of the school.
What is your major?
Early Childhood Education, with a minor in Child Psychology.
What is your dream job?
To become a daycare owner.
What clubs, activities or interests are you part of outside of class?
I’m a member of the wrestling club, College Success Foundation, the Black Student Union, and ASEWU (student government). For activities, I like anything that has to do with free-range creativity, competition, and any that are adventurous.
What has been the most surprising thing for you so far about college?
How there are so many opportunities to be active on campus, for free.
What is a challenge you have encountered in college, and how did you navigate it? Or how are you navigating it?
One challenge is dealing with difficult professors. I advocate for myself and others if I have an issue with the way things are handled in certain situations. Another is money — I became more involved on campus, which connected me to different opportunities to get more money.
What student supports and resources have you used that have been most helpful to you?
I use what is offered on campus, such as the EWU career center, writers center and food pantry — and, most importantly, the College Success Foundation lounge and the support I receive from JP, my CSF coach.
What is one piece of advice you’d like to share with fellow students?
Keep your eyes on your goal, and do not stray away from it. It’s OK to have fun, but know how to limit distractions.
